Cancer Services

For the most rare afflictions, there’s only one place to go.

The University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago is home to the latest technology, groundbreaking research, and Chicago area’s largest group of physicians in one location.  Our physicians and surgeons are national leaders in cancer care and research and are known for their excellence in cancer prevention, clinical service and translational research.  Our doctors are pioneering lifesaving procedures and treatments every day. Our patients get A Higher Level of Care.

State-of-the-Art Patient Care

Our patients and their families benefit from leading-edge cancer care resulting from our close relationship with the University of Illinois at Chicago.  Not only do our patients benefit from the latest in research and clinical trial research but they also receive a patient-focused treatment plan that addresses both the physical and emotional needs of our patients in a comfortable, private and healthy environment.

Our comprehensive team focuses on bringing together the best and most complete group of practitioners under one roof in the Outpatient Care Center (OCC).  In these facilities, we have invested heavily in the latest technologies that have been shown to improve both cancer diagnosis and treatment, ensuring that our patients have access to the best care possible.   Technology is not the only think that makes our Cancer Program unique, we also patient convenience and well-being.

Our Comprehensive Services

At the University of Illinois Medical Center, we believe in the concept of "total" cancer care for the patient and family, utilizing major forms of treatment such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Our center provides essential services such as an onsite pharmacy and laboratory while also ensuring that patients have access to adequate education, nutritional, emotional and social support services that are necessary for people who face a diagnosis of cancer.  If inpatient services are needed, such as surgery or stabilization of a medical condition, there is a smooth transition between outpatient and inpatient care to ensure that the patient’s treatment experience is as pleasant as possible.

The Medical Center also offers screening programs for the early detection of cancer.  Our physicians continue to participate in a range of research studies that focus on both prevention and clinical trials aimed at treating a broad spectrum of cancers.  All of our research protocols are reviewed by a peer review committee (Cancer Center Protocol Review Committee), as well as an Institutional Review Board (IRB).
