Radiology Patient InformationNew ways of picturing the human body require new ways of interpreting what we see. In the last few decades, the field of radiology has progressed from x-rays to cutting-edge methods such as functional magnetic resonance imaging and interventional neuroradiology. Today, it is possible to place a small tube into a vein of a patient’s leg, thread it upward to the brain and prevent the rupture of a ballooning blood vessel, all while watching every step on a live monitor. Making the most of such tools requires physicians trained and willing to see the old in a new light. At the University of Illinois Medical Center, we have pioneered some of the newest imaging techniques. We perform more than 130,000 radiological exams and 2,000 imaging-guided procedures annually. Other clinicians believe the University of Illinois Medical Center’s Radiology Department gives patients their best chance for diagnosis and cure. Physicians from all over the world refer their patients here. Learn more about our Radiology Services.
