Stress and Anxiety Disorders Clinic

Stress and anxiety are part of everyone’s life. Being overwhelmed or burdened by these feelings can occur whenever a person experiences a major life transition, and can be much more difficult to handle without help. Severe anxiety involves a person’s whole being, including physical, cognitive and emotional health. Physical symptoms of anxiety can include shortness of breath, dizziness, and feelings of nervousness and irritability. Emotionally, a person with intense anxiety can experience debilitating fear and apprehension.

It is important for the individual to understand that both stress and anxiety are treatable. The most recent research shows that the best treatment for stress and anxiety is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). The staff at the Stress and Anxiety Disorders Clinic is well-educated in the use of this treatment. CBT places a strong emphasis on creating awareness about how feelings affect moods and patterns of behavior. Our goal is to help patients understand this concept and work towards changing the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that are causing them difficulty. When appropriate, we prescribe psychopharmacological treatment for anxiety.
Treatment is available at our clinic for many stress and anxiety related problems, including Panic Disorder, Social Phobia, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Acute Stress Disorder, among others.

Psychiatric Clinical Research Center

The Psychiatric Clinical Research Center offers advanced evaluation, treatment, and extended inpatient care for patients diagnosed with severe mental disorders. Our primary goal is to relieve the suffering of the patients in our clinical research programs, while also introducing new methods for treatment to the medical community.
