The University of Illinois Cardiology Group maintains outpatient offices both in the Heart Center in the Outpatient Care Center and at a separate site in Arlington Heights. Cardiologists and the full range of ambulatory cardiac services are available at both sites.

Point of Care Testing
Many advanced tests are available in our outpatient center-no travel required! This highly convenient model of care is coordinated by an outstanding group of nurses who are exceptionally knowledgeable and motivated to assist in your care. A sample of some of our point of care tests include:
A full lipid profile, including measurements of your “good” HDL and “bad” LDL cholesterol. Complete results available in 5 minutes
Measurment of the clotting ability of your blood (for patients taking blood thinning medications). Results available in 1 minute
Advanced internal heart measurements with ultrasound
Treadmill stress tests

Preventive services - advanced tests not widely available are offered to help identify previously hidden risk conditions that lead to heart disease. Specialized sessions are available for coronary risk reduction as well as clinics devoted to a women’s heart health issues. Electron Beam Tomography scanning for coronary calcium is available to help identify the earliest stages of hardening of the arteries.
Stress Tests with Advanced Non-Radioactive Imaging - more reliable than conventional stress tests with EKG monitoring alone, ultrasound is used to monitor the heart before and after you exercise.
Advanced Catheterization Options - those requiring angiography to evaluate or treat blocked arteries can rest assured that they will have the opportunity to discuss options and arrange for care with a specialist who will discuss all of the latest options.
Heart Failure Management - a variety of available techniques can substantially improve this common, debilitating condition. A specialized team of heart failure professionals is available in the Heart Center to provide you with the most comprehensive, advanced heart failure care possible.
Heart Beat Irregularities (Electrophysiology) – conditions encountered range from occasional irregularities to life threatening erratic beats. This wide range of conditions is well addressed by our electrophysiology team, who can guide you through a range of options. An area of particular expertise is in atrial fibrillation, a particularly common but troublesome irregularity.
