Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery

The Division of Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago was established over 65 years ago, as an independent unit within the Department of Surgery. The world renowned Craniofacial (link) and Maxillofacial (link) Centers were incorporated with the Division in 1995.

Over 150 residents and international fellows received their training through our Division during these years and are currently practicing in various parts of the country and the world. 

Our mission is to provide the highest possible state-of-the-art compassionate and respectful care to all our patients and to maintain the appropriate intellectual environment to foster and promote education and research.

The plastic surgeons of the division have extensive training and experience in all areas of adult and pediatric plastic surgery including:

  • Cosmetic surgery of the face, body and extremities
  • Body contouring after weight loss procedure
  • Reconstruction of complex defects
  • Congenital anomalies from cleft lip/palate to complex craniofacial anomalies
  • Breast surgery
  • Microsurgery
  • Hand surgery
  • Maxillofacial trauma
  • Skin cancer

Our Services

We provide patient care in all areas of expertise of adult and pediatric plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. We also actively participate in the multidisciplinary care of patients in centers of excellence and collaborate with other specialists to manage patients with congenital anomalies, difficult wounds and complex reconstructive problems. We use state-of-the-art reconstructive procedures and techniques including craniofacial surgery, distraction osteogenesis, microsurgery, flap surgery, tissue expansion, laser surgery, endoscopy and osseointegration to provide our patients with superb care.
