Social Work is committed to the complete person and his/her family, immediate environments and larger social contexts. Health Social work subscribes to this inclusive definition of medical care and strives to implement these values and, in so doing, helps support the criteria of quality medical care.

Our Mission

Our objective is to assist patients in achieving and maintaining their maximum levels of physical, social and emotional functioning. The philosophy is one of interdepartmental collaboration and team approaches to patient care with open exchange among disciplines. Patient self-determination and participation in medical care decisions are values to which the staff strongly subscribes and continues to encourage.

What Is Social Work?

In the health care setting, social work focuses on high-risk patient groups such as the hospitalized elderly, young children, teen-age pregnant girls, family violence and the catastrophically and chronically ill. Social work in the health care setting also focuses on families who need help and emotional support during the course of an illness of a family member.
